I received an email earlier today informing me of a new feature on Itunes: Itunes U! As well as offering music and video downloads, there is now a special section on the Itunes Store containing audio files of lectures on loads of different topics you can download and listen to free!
Maybe it’s just me that finds this exciting, but if I want to learn more on a topic of interest, I can now just listen to these lectures as an alternative to trawling through the dusty stacks of the library for something incredibly boring that I eventually loose patience with. Of course, for assessment purposes you can’t beat books and journal articles, but this feature will revolutionise my attitude to learning, as there is a world of knowledge available to download at the click of a button and listen to at your own convenience.
For a new feature, Apple have compiled a surprisingly wide variety of material which can only be expanded as the service becomes more popular.
Want to say I’m off to listen to an Itunes lecture, but I actually do have an essay to write using a pile of yellowing library books to aid me.. maybe later! Certainly a project for the Easter holidays anyway..
